What parents say about Meiji Martial Arts

April 17, 20252 min read

We know the last thing you want to see is us talking about how great we think Meiji Martial Arts is. After all, no one likes a show-off. But while we believe in the value of what we offer, we would much rather you hear about how our students have benefited from their parents, who have great stories to tell.

Our recent championship wins in Kickboxing and jiu-jitsu are a perfect recent example of students who have honed their skills and been rewarded. So, we thought it would be a great time to take a step back and truly reflect on what our students have achieved.

Below is a conversation we had with Galia, whose son Aviv competed with our Jiu Jitsu team at the All All Star BJJ championships at Crystal Palace, where he won a silver medal.

1. Can you describe the changes you’ve seen in your child since they started training?

My son’s training has made him not just stronger physically but also mentally. He is more resilient, confident, and disciplined. Meiji has also allowed him to develop great relationships with his teammates.

 2.  How did you feel watching your child compete? What stood out most to you?

Watching my son compete always make my heart sink. It’s great to see him ‘in the zone’ and so focussed. I have also noticed he respects his opponents. Also, it’s always great to see how as a team they move from mat to mat to support each other during competitions.

3. How did you feel when your child won a medal?

When my son won his medal, I felt so proud. He trained hard and he fully deserved it.

4. How would you describe the culture or community at Meiji Martial Arts?

After 8 years of training at Meiji Martial Arts, I can confidently say we are lucky to have both boys train there. It’s a place where your child is always seen as an individual. The experienced coaches are always there to get the best out of them.

They don’t just make them better at martial arts but also as human beings, preparing them for life’s challenges. They say it takes a village to raise a child, I’m very happy Meiji is part of ours. Ouss.
